The Highlights – Nichol Keene

Watch:

Helvetica (Dir Gary Hustwit, UK 2007, 80 minutes)

Helvetica is a surprisingly gripping documentary which discuses the sordid history of the typeface.  It includes appearances from some of the big names in design discussing their love or hate for the ever present Helvetica. Starting from the birth of Helvetica in the 1950’s, this documentary takes us on an enthralling journey to present day showing how Helvetica has affected generations of designers and typographers.  Helvetica is showing throughout November at the ICA, London.

LOUD @ Tate Britain, Millbank, London, SW1P 4RG

Loud Tate is an event hosting some fantastic music, performance, art and workshops and best of all its completely free. Involving the likes of Laura Dockrill (Dockers MC) performing her spoken word poetry, Elizabeth Hepworth’s live painting and workshops from Lazy Oaf it should be an interesting day. Then add in a live music line up that includes Bashy, Scarlet Harlots and The Pepys and its going to be fantastic.
