2005.

This blog started approximately a year ago, which means around about now is it’s first birthday! Thanks to everyone whether you’ve been watching from the start, somewhere in the middle or just now. Over the next couple of days I’m going to be putting up some old work (apologies again for the people who’ve seen them before) but I want this space to have most of my stuff up and it doesn’t yet. Also need to be working on my life (out of this pixelated world) for a bit. Lots to do and think about and figure out.

2006/2007.

…was a good month. There was Christmas cookie baking and movies at Petra’s with Vicki.

And Sara.

There was ice skating at Tower Hill with Finn and Iris.

There was chillage at the diner after.

There were dinner parties like the one Nikoo had at her flat in London Fields.

There was flying back to Hong Kong for two weeks and chilling with the Hefti’s and my god mother and the new parrot.

There was hanging with Andi at Noon Day Gun.

There was the view from my new place which I don’t like.

There was the view of what used to be Queen’s Pier and is now being turned into whatever the government has planned, a waterfront park? Probably some artificial ‘paradise’ with grass that you can’t step on again. (Dislike).

There was a lot of snail paced monged out travel sessions on the trams which I love.

There were brunch club sessions with Payal and our macbooks.

There was Dim Sum lunches with my dad and bro.

And brunch club chillage with Emma.

I don’t know why I never posted these pictures anywhere before, probably because they’re of my mother and she’s a fragile subject for me. But I recently stumbled upon them. Took them in 2006, fuck that was a good year photographically. Most of my favourite work is from then. These were from a office boat trip party in Hong Kong. I had just bought this really cheap TLR camera and was testing it out.

So I’ve just realised that there isn’t really a space where I’ve got all the work I’ve done with Kanch over the years. Bear with me if you’ve seen some of these images before, but some you may not have. I met Kanch just as she was starting out her label Kanchan Couture, and I was just starting fashion photography. It’s been over two years now so I just wanted to show our work together.

Hungover + Christmas morning + shitty presents. Why can’t people either not give presents or give something truly amazing? That’s why I choose not to give anything. Also cos I’m a selfish muddafacka. But anyways. Okay there’s good reason as to why I’ve been so slack on the bloggage thing. You’ll see below. Here are some random digital snaps of things in HK.

My cousin took me for a coffee at this nice little rooftop bar in the new whatever hotel in Happy Valley.

I’ve been crazy busy shooting. Tuesday I shot Kanch’s new collection. Make-up artist didn’t turn up and it almost all ended as a complete fail but we pulled through in the end. Behind the scenes at the most amazing apartment on Hollywood Road:

Wednesday I shot some doods in a place very special to me, for Rama’s new magazine. This also almost went shit due to unforseen circumstances, but got some great stuff in the end. Was good to work with some of the best people in the industry in HK. Took this pic after shooting (without Karen sadly):

Wednesday evening and most of Thursday I shot for Lun and Pav’s new HK magazine Brouhaha. Really fun shit. Good team as well. Nari and Adriana in the van:

So I spent the better part of three days in vans driving round taking pictures. Good fun but really exhausting. Lots of luckies were smoked and (vita) lemon tea’s were consumed. Expect to see the results of the shoots around mid-late January, when they’ve gone to print then I’ll be allowed to put them up. Hope everyone has had a lovely Christmas! London on Monday, woo!

So I’ve been in Hong Kong for a couple of days now. Trying to shoot more digital stuff but I’ve sort of lost my digital vision from shooting too much film! Working on some shoots and projects and just general catching up. Hong Kong Hong Kong! City of lights and life and…Anyways here are some digital snapshots from random moments in the past days.

The one thing I make sure I always do is get on a tram. I love how they’re so inside vs outside, connection with the city in a contained environment. So beautiful.
